Hello and welcome!

Welcome to Crafting Fashion, your online source for information on cutting and sewing sweater knit fabrics. Hi there! I'm Olgalyn Jolly a/k/a O! Jolly!, owner of the Crafting Fashion blog. I'm a designer of knit textiles and knitwear living in NYC. I also teach Introduction to Knitwear Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

On this blog you'll find techniques and tips for cutting and sewing sweater knits. Garment industry methods are translated for the home sewing environment. Though these fabrics are sometimes unstable and unwieldy, I think that sweater knits are beautiful, versatile, and the most wonderful fabrics with their amazing properties of stretch and texture. With just a little effort, a person can create a gorgeous sweater, even if they can't knit or crochet.

I have an online shop of fabrics that I've designed and developed. The fabrics are all knit locally at mills in the New York City area or are custom knit especially for you by me or another artisan. I produce a small line of sustainable cotton, sweater knit fabrics. These unique fabrics are ethically produced and ready to ship! The shop also carries several selections of 100% wool sweater fabrics.

Please be sure to join the email list to get discounts on the fabric and to hear the latest news.
